CASES
5-year-old boy with cerebral palsy (CP)
The boy actively seeks out the chair during breaks and experiences a sense of calm when using it. The size of the chair is a great fit for him, providing clear body boundaries and a soothing effect.
7-year-old boy with Apert syndrome
The boy can reach the wings on his own and independently position himself in the chair. The size of the wings is a perfect fit for him, and he often uses all four wings. He benefits greatly from the calming effect of the chair, which helps him stay more focused in class during the afternoon. He frequently uses the chair for after lunch nap.
7-year-old boy with infantile autism
The boy seeks out the chair on his own when needed. He benefits from the sense of calm it provides for his body, and the chair has significantly lowered his arousal level. In the afternoon, he appears much calmer compared to his previous behavior. The boy uses the chair multiple times a day, both during lessons and when using his iPad.
He can easily get in and out of the chair by himself. He is also able to reach the wings and pull them over himself.
7-year-old boy with infantile autism
If there is a lot of noise in the classroom, he becomes overstimulated and highly affected. However, when sitting in the chair, he can remain in the room, stay engaged in the lesson, and better tolerate what is happening around him.
9-year-old girl with infantile autism
The girl has vivid self-stimulatory behavior, such as jumping and constantly being physically active, and suffer from significant restlessness. The chair helps her to calm down, and she instinctively pulls all the wings over herself. Her whole body relaxes, and his arousal level decreases. She actively seeks out the chair for comforting enclosure.
Staff experiences from a special needs school
The chair allows the children to self-regulate, and they quickly learn how to adjust their level of enclosure. They can decide how much they want to be wrapped up and can get up whenever they need to.
We find that the chair is easy to wipe clean.
WASHING AND MAINTENANCE
The cover for the Protac SenSit®-chair can be washed at 60 degrees. The frequency of washing depends on the use of the chair. When washing, please follow the instructions on the care label.
- The cover can be washed in a washing machine with a min. capacity of 7 kg.
- The seat cover, with incontinence on the inner side can be zipped off and washed separately when needed.
- The ball bags in the neck- and side wings can be washed in the included washing bags.
- Protac does not recommend using stain remover or detergent with bleach or perfume.
- The inner bag with granulate and balls cannot be washed
- The inner bag in the neck cannot be washed
Maintenance
With time, a dent will be formed in the seat. Therefore, it is important to occasionally turn the chair upside down and shake it to allow air into the granulate. This will make the seat "rise" again.
